Collagen Inducing Threads
Fine dissolvable threads inserted under the skin, specifically designed to stimulate collagen with gradual, natural results.
What are Mono Threads
PDO mono threads are smooth stimulating threads, pre-threaded onto a small needle. They are made from PDO (polydiaxanone) which has been used in surgery for over 30 years.
These types of Mono threads are smooth threads without barbs that are used for skin tightening when surgical lifting is not necessarily desired, or required. PDO mono threads are completely absorbed by the body about 3-6 months after treatment.
A natural improvement in the targeted area will be seen over this period- with longer lasting results due to the process of collagen stimulation.
How do Mono Threads work
These threads are placed in the dermal layer of the skin and initiate the formation of new collagen which improves skin firmness and elasticity. This treatment is suitable for anyone who has started to notice the signs of ageing.
Here’s how:
- Micro-injury: When mono threads are inserted into the skin, they create tiny injuries.
- Wound healing response: The body responds by producing collagen, elastin, and fibroblasts.
- Gradual skin tightening: As new collagen forms over several weeks to months:
- Firmer
- Thicker
- More elastic
Common Indications for PDO Mono Threads:
- Collagen Stimulation: The threads stimulate the production of new collagen, improving the overall health and elasticity of the skin
- Skin Tightening and Textural Improvements: As collagen and elastin are produced, the skin becomes firmer, with visible improvements in skin texture and tone
- Facial Contouring: PDO Mono Threads can enhance the natural contours of the face, especially around the jawline, providing a more defined and youthful appearance
- Fine Line Reduction: Softens fine lines and static wrinkles, particularly around the mouth and eyes
- Non-Surgical Brow Lift: PDO Mono Threads can provide a subtle lifting effect for drooping or sagging eyebrows, giving a more youthful and refreshed look
- Neck Rejuvenation: Helps address sagging skin and wrinkles in the neck area, tightening the skin for a smoother appearance
- Acne Scarring: PDO Mono Threads can help improve the appearance of acne scars by stimulating skin regeneration and promoting a more even texture

FAQ's
To maintain the effects of Xeomin, it is generally recommended to get treatments every 3-6 months. The exact timing can vary depending on individual factors, such as how your body responds to the treatment and the specific areas being treated.
Some people may notice that they can extend the time between treatments as they continue to use Xeomin over time, while others may prefer more frequent sessions to achieve their desired look.
The best time to start Xeomin treatment varies based on individual muscle strength and aesthetic goals. Here are some considerations:
- Preventative Measures: The primary action of this treatment is to prevent fine lines/wrinkles from forming. Many people begin treatment in their late 20s to early 30s to prevent the formation of deep wrinkles and maintain a youthful appearance.
- Visible Wrinkles: The secondary effect of Xeomin is to smooth out wrinkles. If you already have noticeable fine lines or wrinkles, starting treatment as soon as they appear can help smooth them out and prevent further deepening. Usually consistent treatment is required. Deep wrinkles may require a range of non-surgical injectable treatments.
To ensure optimal results, it is important to follow certain guidelines post-injection.
First 24 Hours
- Avoid Touching the Area: Refrain from rubbing or massaging the treated area to prevent the product from spreading.
- No Strenuous Exercise: Avoid vigorous physical activity, as increased blood flow can cause the product to migrate.
- Avoid Lying Down: Try not to lie flat for at least 4 hours post-injection to reduce the risk of spreading.
- Limit Alcohol Consumption: Avoid alcohol to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
- Avoid compression: No swimming googles, swimming googles, tight hats or full face helmets to avoid brow drop or eyelid droop.
First 48 Hours
- Avoid Heat Exposure: Stay away from saunas, hot baths, and intense heat.
First 7 days:
- Plan other skin treatments: like facials or skin treatments after 7 days. It will take up to 14 days for Xeomin to take effect.
A consent form is required, and the risks will be discussed prior to treatment to ensure you are fully informed.
While Xeomin is generally considered safe, there are some potential risks and side effects associated with its use. These include:
More common:
- Bruising at the site of injections that may last 3-10 days.
- Localised swelling and/or redness at the site of injection- self resolving promptly post treatment.
- Incomplete paralysis of injected muscle. This is addressed at the follow up appointment. If you are a new client a follow up appointment is required as an increase in dose may be required.
Less Common
- Headache for a few hours afterwards.
- Flu like symptoms lasting up to one week.
- Treatment of the lower face – changes in smile. If smile muscles are affected, this can last up to 12 weeks.
- Change in brow position, which can usually be addressed at your follow-up appointment.
Rare:
- Allergy to toxin.
- Infection at needle site.
- A very small percentage of the population do not respond to the treatment. We are unable to identify these patients prior to treatment.
- There is less than a 1% chance that headaches will last for some weeks. If this happens, they can be debilitating.
- The Botulinum Toxin contains human albumin, a derivative of human blood. Effective donor screening and the product manufacturing process means the risk of transmission of any viral doses is extremely remote.
- Droopy eyelid when frown line injected.
- Double vision following crow’s feet treatment has been documented.

+ - Mono Invasive Non-surgical Thread
MINT stands for "Mono Invasive Non-surgical Thread". The threads are made from polydioxanone (PDO), a biocompatible polymer which undergoes complete hydrolytic degradation. The barbs, molded along the thread, anchor into the superficial dynamic fat pads under the skin, to reposition tissue for a non-surgical lift. This can aid in reducing the signs of ageing.
